Kansas City Liposuction
Print PageLiposuction was introduced in the United States in 1982 and has since become the most common cosmetic procedure in the nation. The popularity of liposuction is due to the effectiveness of the technique and the fact that it leaves only tiny scars, often less than one-half inch in length. Dr. Lamb believes it is important to understand that liposuction is neither a substitute for proper diet and exercise nor a cure for obesity. To get the most from this procedure, Dr. Lamb recommends you should be of average weight with extra fat localized in specific areas. It is also important that you have healthy, elastic skin with the capacity to shrink evenly after surgery.
Liposuction Consultation
If you are interested in liposuction, Dr. Lamb begins the process with a comprehensive screening and personal consultation. During your liposuction consultation, he will talk to you about what you are trying to achieve. After your discussion and a thorough examination, Dr. Lamb can determine if the liposuction procedure is right for you. In some cases, you might think you need liposuction of the abdomen but may actually be a more suitable candidate for a tummy tuck.
Your Liposuction Procedure
The liposuction procedure is usually done on an outpatient basis. If needed, Dr. Lamb can perform liposuction on several areas of your body at the same time. The time required to perform the liposuction procedure differs depending on how many areas of your body are being worked on and the amount of fat that is being removed.
During the liposuction procedure, your fat is suctioned from your body through tiny incisions, usually smaller than ½ inch in length. Liposuction is a fairly simple procedure that can reduce the number of fat cells in areas such as the hips, stomach, thighs, and Buttock. Dr. Lamb uses many different approaches for the procedure based on your requirements. If your skin has lost much of its elasticity, Dr. Lamb may recommend a skin tightening procedure (abdominoplasty). Dr. Lamb will review all of this information with you during your initial consultation.
Dr. Lamb encourages you to review his before and after liposuction pictures to see examples of his work. He has many more photos in his office and will be glad to review these with you at your consultation.
