Rome wasn’t built in a day. We’ve heard it over and over in this generation of instant gratification. When we want something, we want it immediately. (Hello Amazon same-day-shipping!) And when we want to improve our skin, we want it to look better NOW.
In the aesthetics industry, we must be up-front with our patients and make sure to manage their expectations. One facial isn’t going to give you glowing, flawless J-Lo skin (unless you’re just extremely lucky) but rather consistent and dedicated care will improve your skin texture, tone and look day by day.
BUT… imagine that it was possible to take your skin concerns- hyperpigmentation, acne scars, fine lines & wrinkles- and peel them away to reveal a layer of healthy, rejuvenated skin.
Too good to be true?
Nope. We have a treatment that hacks the system. It’s called Fraxel and people are loving the results. Fraxel is a resurfacing laser that is guaranteed to improve tone, texture and radiance for aging, sun damaged or scarred skin. It is designed to create a younger looking appearance in just ONE treatment.
What all does Fraxel treat?
Fraxel is effective in treating:
- Fine lines & wrinkles (like crow’s feet and brow lines)
- Surface scarring (helps to erase effects of acne & other scarring)
- Pigmentation (diminishes the appearance of brown spots)
- Sun damage
- Actinic Keratosis (a common skin condition from sun exposure)
One of the most exciting aspects of Fraxel results is the improvement of acne scarring. We’ve had many patients search far and wide for a way to get rid of scarring, and Fraxel is the one treatment that offers a noticeable improvement in this area.
How does Fraxel work?
Fraxel is a non-ablative fractional laser with integrated cooling to work from the inside out. The laser creates tiny “columns of thermal destruction” AKA small heat injuries to the skin in order to stimulate the growth of new, healthy skin cells.
The fraxel laser has two different wavelengths: 1927 and 1550. These wavelengths treat different depths of the skin. The 1927 treats more superficial skin concerns, such as pigmentation, skin texture, and fine lines. The 1550 treats deeper skin issues like deep lines and scarring. You can treat with both wavelengths during the same visit, or to be more aggressive, we recommend a treatment with the 1927 first, then a second treatment with the 1550. The 1927 offers a more immediate result, whereas the 1550 results are seen after about 3 months (because it’s building collagen deep down.) When addressing the deeper skin concerns like acne scars and deep lines, patients see the best results after a series of 1550 treatments.
Is there downtime?
Great results don’t happen without a little bit of downtime. Yes, the Fraxel treatment has about 4-5 days of downtime depending on how aggressive the treatment is. If treated with the 1927 wavelength, the skin bronzes then flakes/sloughs off within about 5 days. If treated with the 1550 wavelength, the skin does NOT flake, rather it is just red like a severe sunburn for about 5 days. It is important to stay out of the sun during the healing process.
Am I eligible for Fraxel?
Before receiving Fraxel, make sure you have no extensive breakouts, infections or open wounds on the face. In addition, you need to stop using products with retinoids one week before your treatment. Our estheticians will apply a numbing topical cream for 60-90 minutes and the Fraxel treatment itself takes about 30 minutes, depending on your treatment area. Call Healthylooks at 816-795-5262 if you have any questions about your eligibility or the process for Fraxel.
To wrap up, if you have skin concerns and are tired of seeing no improvement, it may be time for Fraxel. You will enjoy results such as:
- Smoother, fresher, younger-looking skin
- Improved tone and texture
- Reduction of unwanted brown spots
- Reduced fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes
- Improved appearance of acne scars and surgical scars.
