Fraxel is a laser treatment that targets aging and sun damaged skin. The technology uses microscopic laser columns to penetrate deep in the skin to expedite your body’s remodelling of collagen. The brown spots we see on our skin are called “hyperpigmentation.” There are 3 types of hyperpigmentation: melasma, sunspots, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Melasma is believed to be caused by hormonal changes. Sunspots develop over time the more we are exposed to UV rays. And post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation occurs after an injury or inflammation (most commonly caused by acne.) Fraxel targets these pigmented areas in the skin and is clinically proven to lighten hyperpigmentation.

Due to sun-exposure, environmental stressors (pollution, blue light, etc), and irritating products, our skin becomes rough and uneven. Fraxel helps repair the damaged skin cells and restores skin texture. Fraxel is also proven to improve acne scars and surgical scars.

Fraxel results are seen after one treatment! Optimal results are seen after a series of treatments, but most patients are happy with just one treatment each year. Before the treatment, we apply a topical numbing cream for one hour. The treatment itself takes about 30-45 minutes. After the treatment, the skin becomes red/orange, and depending on the wavelength and how aggressive the treatment was, the skin will peel/flake for 2-6 days. After the peeling process, the skin is baby-smooth!
5. On Sale in February and October
The Fraxel Treatment is always on sale in February and October at Healthylooks Medspa! We encourage patients to be out of the sun 4 weeks before and after the treatment, so we’ve found that fall and winter are perfect times to get a Fraxel done. A face treatment is $800 (instead of $1,000). We can also treat the neck, chest, and hands with the Fraxel.
