What are your best options when you want to reduce double chins and sculpt a more perfect jawline?
Submental fat, the kind that accumulates under your chin, is a tricky area to address naturally even when you diet and exercise for a low body-fat percentage. HealthyLooks is here to help you clean up the residual fat that just won’t budge. Today’s post will go over the use and efficacy of the Kybella injection treatment, including where and how it works best.
How to Reduce Double Chins with Kybella
Kybella is a tool we employ whenever a patient has a small amount of facial fat they’d like to remove. The most common areas for this treatment involve some “jowl” around the mandibular border (beneath the jawline).
As far as double chin fat, it can help, but it’s also helpful to consider limited liposuction or Coolsculpting for the bulk of the work. Kybella is better for fine-tuning the finished results following one of those two options. Many of our patients have had facelifts elsewhere, and still struggle with residual fat. We’ll correct most of the imperfections with Kybella.
Caveat on Kybella: It will cause mild swelling for a short time after receiving it. You’ll need to invest some time for some recovery before planning any photo-taking events.
Are you a Suitable Candidate for Kybella?
Who are the best candidates for Kybella?
These are the individuals who have trouble with superficial fat in specific areas. This may not be optimal for those who wish to remedy skin problems around the platysma, an anterior muscle that runs along the neck. Kybella works on “pinchable” fat, which you would find along the jawline.
We don’t normally recommend reducing superficial fat above the jawline, however. It’s usually more effective to try a surgical approach to the prominent buckled fat pass.
The theory on Kybella involves a naturally occurring chemical we would find in our biliary tract, responsible for digesting fat. So, it effectively digests fat within the cell itself. This triggers apoptosis (cell destruction), thereby eliminating stubborn superficial fat.
Our Other Terrific Treatments Used to Reduce Double Chins
As we mentioned, the Coolsculpting procedure is another tremendous way to reduce fat around your chin and many other places. This allows us to freeze and permanently eliminate 20 to 25% of fat cells in a particular location.
These are just a few of the top advantages to trying Coolsculpting either by itself or in addition to Kybella.
- There’s no surgery, and it delivers clinically proven results.
- You can address squeezable fat in areas such as the chin, love handles, inner thighs, abdomen, arm flab, flanks, and more.
- It’s another brief procedure that doesn’t require lots of rehabilitation or several days of soreness.
