PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma, and it’s derived from your own blood. The yellow/gold plasma, aka “liquid gold” contains high amounts of growth factors. It can be injected into the skin or used topically via microneedling treatments to enhance your results and speed up the healing process.
What’s the process?
PRP with microneedling, sometimes called the “Vampire Facial” may seem intimidating, but we make it as simple and comfortable as possible at Healthylooks Medspa.
- First, we numb the treatment area (we can treat the face, neck, and/or chest)
- Next, Dr. Lamb or Dominique, RN will draw a vial of blood from your arm. We then place the vial in a centrifuge which spins the tube to separate the PRP from the rest of the blood.
- After numbing for 45-60 minutes, we begin the microneedling treatment. PRP is applied topically during the microneedling treatment. Microneedling creates tiny micro channels into the skin, which allows the PRP to sink deep into those tiny holes, encouraging collagen production.
What are the benefits?
Both microneedling and PRP alone are very beneficial to the skin, but the combination of the two amp up the treatment as well as results. It contains high amounts of growth factors which are responsible for healing damaged skin as well as stimulating skin renewal, potentially giving you better results with fewer treatments than microneedling alone!
